Things 13, 14, & 15

Things 13, 14, 15

Week 6

De.licio.us, Technorati, and Copyright

I was already very aware of what tagging was. On face book, I am a big fan of the “de-tag” on pictures when I’m not looking so great! I have never heard to Del.icio.us though as a social book marking site. I think it’s a great tool but not one I would probably be interested in using in everyday life. I would probably only use it when working on a paper for graduate school.

I couldn’t understand what the purpose of Technorati was. It took me a minute. Basically it is a place for people to blog about things that are going on in the world. You can post videos and photos. I was not a fan of this site. I am not really interested in spending my time chatting with strangers about the news. Who has time for that? I can’t believe I say that when I’m the one who can’t allow my self on Facebook when I’m suppose to be doing school work!

Okay, at first I thought I might be able to show that video to my students, but I couldn’t stand to listen to Buzz Light year say “Copy” one more time! As far the discovery exercises go, I am confused by the question “What does Library 2.0 mean to you?” What I got from it was there are two sides of the debate. 1. You can’t share anything copyrighted or 2. It is ok to share things that are in a library. I think it is obvious that I love to share! I would have to say that it is okay to share things for educational purposes. Right?
